Must do: “Pull the Slack Out” of the Bar.

When you deadlift, it’s important to create tension throughout the body before you start to pull. Arms straight, bar pulled up and slack pulled out of the bar. How do you do this? Well first, keep your arms straight (don’t bend them at all throughout your lift). Next, literally pull the slack out of the bar. Pull the bar towards yourself before you begin (sometimes people like to think “bend the bar”) while you get into position to start pulling. You will hear a “click” if you do it right. You should have pre-pull tension before every rep.

Must remember: Self-Love Can Mean More..

– Lalah Delia

I love this quote and it’s been on my mind as of late. It’s a good remember to trust your intuition and stand up for what you believe in – even if the person next to you is doing something different. If it doesn’t work, it’s OK to change your mind half way through. If you need to slow down and think, that’s OK too. Take all the time you need. And don’t ever, ever say you are sorry for doing YOU. That is all.

Must Buy: City Trek Turtleneck (Lululemon)

I’ll be honest, I saw this online and wans’t impressed. But on a whim, I tried it on in the store and fell in love. This is the perfect comfy piece for holiday parties this season. I’m a big fan of turtlenecks and the bell sleeves are a fun extra. Very comfy (merino wool) and cute. I stayed TTS in a 2. Bonus, it’s on markdown right now.

Buy it here.

Must Carry: Pocket Digital Food Scale

I’ve had a few questions about what food scale I use when I’m at restaurants or out and about. No one wants to carry a big bulky scale in their purse. It’s not as precise as my usual kitchen one, but it works in a pinch. I bought mine for $13 on Amazon.

Buy it here.

Must Wear: Comrad Compression Socks

Lots of questions on the compression socks that I’ve been wearing lately. I like compression socks because they improve circulation and keep my legs feeling nice. These are good quality and have some cute designs. They don’t keep a lot of stock on hand, so I just grab some when they get them in. Buy them here.

Order them here.
