Must Do: Fix Your Mindset

When it comes to any goal in life, your mind matters. Have an open mindset and your possibilities are endless. Have a negative mindset, and your possibilities are immediately destroyed before you even begin. It all begins with YOU. Nothing will slow your progress like a negative mindset. Wake up. Tell yourself every day that you are amazing and that you can do anything. Positivity is a choice. With it, be prepared to succeed. Without it, you’ll still be “right” but you can almost always count on failure. Stay positive friends.

Must Buy: Fawn Design Mini Bag

I’m so late to the game, but here we go anyway. My favorite purchase this week was my mini bag from Fawn Design. I don’t carry handbags or purses anymore, so i’m all about mini backpacks right now. And this one is perfect for me. The pictures don’t do it justice, it’s actually really pretty looking in real life. I feel like it will last me a long time. I love all the pockets and gold hardware. I purchased black, but I think i need red too.

Buy here.

Must Have Protein Snack (Kid Friendly): Skippy Peanut Butter Balls

My kids love these — so much that I can’t keep enough in the pantry, like ever. But I’m fine with it because it’s a tasty snack (with a little extra protein) that we can easily take on the road. For 1 serving there are 160 calories (10 fat, 14 carbs, 5 protein). Oh yeah, sometimes I make faces on them. Haha.

Must read: Do I Need to Squat in Lifter Shoes?

“Do I need to buy lifter shoes for squatting?” So I get this question a lot. Sure maybe they look cool, but do you really need them?

Most lifters will have a raised heel (~2.5 – 3 cm) and can help some people squat deeper while staying in a more upright position. So naturally , I’m going to say, “Will having a heel lift benefit you? If not, then no, you don’t need them.”

But how do you find out if they will improve your performance? First, I like the tests pointed out here (from Hybrid Performance Method). It’s an easy way to check your mobility and limitations. I like to assess my clients via videos first. Next, try squatting in different lifters. Ideally, you would borrow someone else’s shoes for a while. This, paired with the testing (also linked below) will help you decide if you need to invest in lifters or not.

Must Listen: Deorro – Bailar feat. Elvis Crespo

OK – I don’t normally take recommendations for my Monday Musts, but this week I’ll make an exception. So this song was added to my cardio playlist, and I’m actually fine with it because it’s this catchy fusion of electronic dance and merengue. However you want to describe it, it’s definitely upbeat and will keep your cardio entertaining. Let me know what you think of it.

Listen here.

As always, I’m not paid to review or recommend any of the products listed (just things I like).

That’s it for this week’s musts. Have a great week friends!
